This feature has a list of the villians the Titans encountered in the third season ranging from imperfect, like Brother Blood and Professor Chang, to laughable, like Wrathful Mod and Mumbo Jumbo. Also there’s a hidden feature called “One Expose, Two Themes”. A nifty diminutive feature about the show’s theme song depending on the “mood” of the episode. If the third season is that pleasant, I wonder when season four will reach out?

I occupy both the US and international versions of this film, and the international edition is great better. Both versions carry a microscopic sexual tension throughout between Leon and Matilda, and the uncut version is more pronounced in this region, but that isn’t the reason to rob it.

The extra 24 minutes on the uncut version provides a deeper idea of the relationship between the two as the film progresses. For example, in the US version Matilda never becomes a precise “cleaner” or hitman. It’s only hinted at when they shoot a jogger from a rooftop with blanks. In the uncut version, Leon takes her completely under his soar and teaches her the trade, including scenes where the pair bustle around killing abominable guys and such. In the process, Leon teaches her the “ring trick” by tossing a grenade at a victim and keeping the ring and grenade pin in his hand. This scene sets up the final scenes in the movie in a plan that the US version left short and unexplained.

If you enjoyed the US version, you’ll probably adore the uncut version more, if only because the characters and their relationships are remarkable deeper.

French director Luc Besson (”The Messenger”; “The Fifth Element”) made his U.S. film debut with this luminous thriller of an Italian hitman who is untouchable. “The Professional” stars Jean Reno (”The Immense Blue”) who plays Leon, a professional hitman with ninja-like skills, who eliminates rivals for a mob boss (Danny Aiello) .

After a unsuitable cop (Gary Oldman) eliminates the family residing next door due to a drug transaction gone atrocious, Leon finds himself the guardian of young Mathilda (Natalie Portman in her cover debut) . Taking Mathilda under his helm, Leon teaches her the art of the “cleaner”. However, misfortune lurks around every corner, and Leon must protect Mathilda from the same cops who killed her family.

Considered by many to be his masterpiece, “The Professional” was originally released internationally under the title “Leon”. However due to the feeling that American audiences might come by some material unacceptable, over 24 minutes of the film was edited out. Finally, Columbia/Tri-Star has made an gracious decision in releasing the uncut, international version of this good film in the U.S. as it originally was called in August 2000.

While the film’s central theme revolves around Leon and his job, the subplot where Mathilda develops an attraction for Leon is reminiscent of the novel/film “Lolita”. The chemistry between both characters in a father/daughter relationship can be intense, especially as we watch that Mathilda is in her puberty-stage.

Jean Reno is suitable as always, and Gary Oldman gives a chilling performance as Stansfield, the horrible DEA officer who murdered Mathilda’s family in frigid blood. However, the trusty scene-stealer in this film has to be Natalie Portman. This dazzling young girl radiates beauty and professionalism throughout the film. Her porcelain-looking skin, and her enormous brown eyes are well utilized in this film, making her character more childish, yet former to a obvious extent. Portman proved to audiences in this film that she was no flash in the pan, and in her subsequent films, she continues to be a scene-stealer. She is truly Hollywood’s most gifted young actress.

Just like volume 1, most of the songs have previously been released on other Disney Articulate Along Songs, but once again, it’s superior to have them all in the same station. Now, the answers are always the one that narrate most to that princess’s movie, but most of the time, the other options seem better. For example, if Aurora was almost killed by a spinning wheel, why would she want one embroidered on her napkin? And why would Snow White want to eat apple tart?

The only two things I liked about this DVD were the karaoke because I care for to snarl, and the introduction to “Where Dreams Commence,” in which all of the Disney scenes where a princess dances were gash and pasted onto the same background to build it discover like all of the princesses were dancing together in the same site. Some of them were sequel footage, and it only lasted about a second, but it serene looked cold.

You’re so unimaginative!” he yells at a losing contestant. And ragged midget comedian Billy Barty is sadly underused in this movie, as he only has two scenes as cameraman Noodles MacIntosh. And get Dr. Demento as the guy Stanley sprays whip cream on in an ad.

The video for the “UHF” song is included as a bonus, as is Al hosting a series of deleted outtakes, which definitely should’ve been left off the movie, as most were filler that did nothing to near the movie.

Fans of Peculiar Al will definitely like this cult classic from the 1980’s. See gags, and injure and destruction gags abound. Some of the material may not be so PC today. Yet for Children of the 80’s such as myself, it may abet as a nostalgic pop cultural reference point.

How can you resist a movie where they throw poodles out of windows, let kids drink from fire hoses, where Conan hacks people apart because some people turned a book in unhurried? The movie does have its stupid parts, but the spoofs and skits are absolutely hilarious. I won’t whisper you all of them because then you won’t go and rent or pick this expansive movie. This movie is really suited if you are a Unusual Al fan, like REALLY off-the-wall humor, parodies, something that can do you laugh. Some people disfavor this movie, but I contemplate it’s because they’re trying to explore it as a movie. UHF is not really trying to be a movie, it’s trying to be more of a collage of parodies. Anyway, eye it for yourself. There’s no telling how many stomach muscles you’ll burst watching this hilarious film.

Not to be confused with the other Karloff collection this is the one to catch. All the films here watch extremely superb. Occasionally specks and dirt appear but it’s rare . Of all the films here “The Unlit Castle” looks a bit inconsistent but overall looks quite top-notch. “The Climax” has deep rich color capturing the recent Technicolor hues although flesh tones appear to be off a tad and probably should have been color corrected. Audio goods valid with no distortion and dialogue is positive on all the films. Extras include the modern theatrical trailers and nothing else.

“Tower of London” features Karloff in top construct with Vincent Designate appearing in one of his earliest film roles. Using the sets for “Son of Frankenstein” director Roland V. Lee tells the nefarious yarn of King Richard III. Karloff plays Mort his club footed assistant and the executioner who kills those in the line of succession so that Richard can near the throne. This features one of Karloff’s finest performances from the 30’s as Mort the Executioner. Rathbone and Impress are also both terrific in their performances as well. This film certainly deserved an audio commentary but doesn’t glean one.

“The Sad Castle” features Karloff with Lon Chaney Jr. with the staunch heavy being played by Stephen McNally. Sir Richard Burton (Richard Greene) investigates the disappearence of two of his friends. He suspects that Count Von Bruno (McNally) has murdered them. Karloff plays the court physician with Chaney playing a giant soundless named Gargon. Director Nathan Juran (”The 7th Voyage of Sinbad”) gets the most atmosphere out of this b-movie minor classic. Writer Jerry Sackheim creates an piquant script with witty dialogue (as he did on “The Queer Door”) borrowing liberally from other films. Karloff’s role in the film is diminutive but memorable and sympathetic.

In “The Climax” Dr. Hohner (Karloff) plays a theater physician with a mysterious past. It seems he murdered his mistress who was the star soprano years before. When a young gorgeous rising opera star appears she reminds Hohner of his mistress and he becomes obsessed with making her his maintain private songbird if not that he’s prepared to abolish her. Directed by George Waggner (”The Wolf Man”, “Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man”) it’s a period part that will appeal to some Karloff fans. It’s more melodrama than scare.

Dennis de Beaulieu (Richard Wyler) is kept hostage and forced to marry the niece (Sally Forest) of Sire de Maletroit (Charles Laughton ably chewing the scenery) as allotment of a bizarre location of revenge against Maletroit’s brother (Paul Cavanagh) . With the wait on of Voltan (Karloff) a servant Dennis and Blanche hope to rush the wrathful Maletroit.

“Night Key” is one of the few films here I don’t hold seeing before. Karloff plays an inventor who has a special anxiety system. Featuring nice performances “Night Key” provides a mammoth vehicle for Karloff as an actor but it’s not really a panic film. Karloff fans can rejoice even the least of these films have solid performances from Karloff and the other actors. Now if we can unbiased have a DVD space with his TV performances and the classic series “Thriller” Karloff fans will be completely glad.

With this collection of five films on three discs, Universal has comely distinguished cleaned its vault of Boris Karloff films waiting to be issued on DVD. Released in 1951, this costume melodrama - based on a chronicle by Robert Louis Stevenson - wastes Karloff in the thankless role of a doctor who lives under Laughton’s roof. The film is largely an unmemorable affair, but the DVD transfer is exemplary, featuring satisfactory incompatibility and a positive, inviting report.

“The Sunless Castle” (Movie: **1/2 _ DVD Transfer: ****), relased a year later, is slit from the same cloth as “The Outlandish Door”; it’s another gothic melodrama featuring another castle inhabited by yet another ruthless ruler (Stephen McNally) whose heart is state on vengeance. Once again Karloff receives co-starring billing for what is a little supporting role unworthy of his talents; the major roles are played by McNally, and top-billed Richard Greene as the dashing hero who rescues the damsel in damage (Paula Corday as McNally’s endangered wife) . Lon Chaney Jr. has a couple of scenes as a mutilated servant, but neither he nor Karloff are onscreen long enough to assign the film from mediocrity. If only the film were as commendable as the DVD transfer, which is dazzling indeed.

One other comment about this DVD release, a criticism regarding its packaging. The three discs are housed in one of those hard plastic gatefold “clamshell” cases that Universal is so fond of, with Disc One on one side of the case, and the other two discs packed one on top of the other on the opposite side. It is irritatingly difficult to capture the discs from these cases without damaging them or breaking the tabs on the cases. Surely Universal could follow the lead of Columbia/Sony and Warner Home Video and package their sets in the ultra-slim preserve cases! Universal, are you listening?

Very delectable Street Fighter chronicle with many of the character favorites taking fragment. Based on the Street Fighter laughable series the imagery is top notch and any Street Fighter fan should have this in their collection. Quality of the animation, voice-over, music I found to be very gracious with even my kids, who are crooked on the SFIV video game, enjoying it. And for the heed of only $15 I did not raze my money.

This is my first experience with sharp comics. The art is spectacular. There is a attractive amount of animation, such as a character flying across the cover when he kicks, debris flying around, or Ryu’s headband waving in the air. The characters’ mouths don’t disappear though. Mild, thanks to the option to gawk it with or without grunt bubbles, this is practically like watching a cartoon. The sage is very aged and well-written, distinguished better than any of the Street Fighter animes in my idea. Characters from Street Fighter 2, 4, and Alpha all produce appearances.

My one major criticism is the announce acting. The actors are all dreadful and they mispronounce virtually every name and special depart (Gouken’s name sounding the worst) . Ken’s wife Eliza has been given a phony southern accent for no discernible reason, but at least her order actor is actually a female. If I had to decide between the inviting Watchmen comic’s single whisper actor or a bunch of crummy declare actors, I’d go with Street Fighter’s janitors, I mean actors. The sound effects and music are top-notch, thankfully.

I recommend this for people who want to peek the humorous brought to life or unprejudiced Street Fighter fans in general.

Miike does it again! Fair when you believe you’ve got this guy figured out, he does something different and somehow makes it his occupy! THE Substantial YOKAI WAR is a fantasy movie in the same vein as NEVERENDING Narrative, Dim CRYSTAL, ALICE IN WONDERLAND, LOTR, and LABYRINTH. However, by sucessfully intergrating japanese folklore and contemparary stylization, something unique and recent is created. While there is no overly didactic messages, elements of anti-consumerism and envioronmentalism are hinted at. Essentially the themes are as simple as believing in yourself and the magic of childhood.

Tadashi Ino is an introspective kid living with his mother at his grandpa’s house after his parents divorce. When he is bitten by a puppet dragon (a kirin) at a festival, he is told by the local kids that he is now the Kirin Rider. Takashi takes the duty seriously as it becomes more evident thoughout the film that this folklore is proper! Soon enough this kid (who’s a very ample actor, by the method) is up to his chin in monsters and adventure! He teams up with a motley crew of spooks and weirdos (including the rockstar of yokai, the KAPPA), gets an awesome sword, fights robots, and saves Tokyo from the forces of heinous! What more could you ask for?

One of the greatest things about the film is the inventiveness of the yokai costumes themselves. All kinds of masks, suits, makeup, puppets, prosthetics, and digital effects are faded to do an story rouges gallery of monsters. Miike always works with huge physical effects artists and designers. Also, Miike taps his tall pool of faded actors like Kenichi Endo and Renji Ishibashi to play some of the yokai. He creates a sort of yokai theatre that both children and adults can acquire lost in. There are a few little scenes that might be a puny on the scary side for very little kids, but overall this is a very radiant and light hearted fantasy film. I’m tickled this genre is making a comeback (MIRRORMASK comes to mind), and I’m gratified to seek that Takashi Miike dove factual in there and gave us this gem!

i give this movie two thumbs up! It’s a myth about the creatures of Japan’s folklore. (And it wasn’t anything like the “Never Ending Epic”) The only blueprint “it was like a kid’s movie”, or the Never Ending Tale, is because the main character is a child… i contain this movie is for you if you assume any interest in Japan’s culture.

This 32 limited Claymation movie, which bears all the signs of being a student film project produced on a budget of four packs of bubblegum and a cheese sandwich, does have a redeeming virtue. Unlike the live-action, multimillion dollar budgeted Spaceballs from Mel Brooks, this offering by Pete Schuermann & his band of fellow SF fans is moderately silly instead of draggingly stupid. It’s sure that they, unlike Brooks, actually understand the genre, a necessity before it can be sent up.

The spot is simple. A warp in the fabric of spacetime has thrown Darth Vader, James Kirk and Mr. Spock (Star Warp’d uses satirical names, but it’s easier to write it this map) into our universe in the indicate day. Kirk and Spock are informed by 2001’s Starchild that the Monolith controlling spacetime is broken and they must fix it before the multiverses tumble into a place of complete higgledy-piggledy. (Starchild sounds and acts remarkably like Sean Connery, by the by.) Vader summons the Alien, the Terminator and the Predator to fight for the Unpleasant Guys; while Kirk and Spock summon Robocop and E.T. to fight for the trustworthy guys, and they have it out in a contrivance that suggests Celebrity Deathmatch at the World Science Fiction Convention.

The action is mostly an amalgam of the high points in Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back; but there are cameos and homages to The X-Files, Finish Encounters of the Third Kind, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, 2001: A Dwelling Odyssey, Austin Powers: The Inspect Who Shagged Me, The War of the Worlds, Dr. Strangelove, T.J. Hooker and even the ragged Roadrunner-Wile E. Coyote cartoons. The most satisfying moment, however, may be in the impress, where the Starchild requires both sides to cooperate in the elimination of the greatest menace the universes have ever known.

All in all, it’s moderately humorous and fun to notice to acquire up the references. Best viewed with a bunch of friends after moving a six-pack of beer and with popcorn to throw at the hide.

Unlike some of the other reviewers here, I liked BOTH this film and “Spaceballs” — for different reasons. “Spaceballs” is live action satire with plenty of Jewish in-jokes (”Druish princesses” and all) . It is exactly what we have near to request from producer Mel Brooks. “Star Warp’d,” on the other hand is a fan-produced parody that is low-budget, low-tech and, in places, low-brow in its “Dim Smell of the Force” fart-and-poop humor — but I found it comic unbiased the same. (After all, “Spaceballs” stooped to low-brow puns, too — only they were mostly sexual double entendres.)

Granted, the claymation is rather grievous. If you search for the behind-the-scenes feature included on the DVD, you will watch that parts of this were literally filmed in somebody’s garage. Other parts were generated on home computers. The puppets were made out of Sculpy, and the sets were establish together in a couple of days by guys pulling all-nighters (by their believe admission.) If you read the credits, you’ll observe the same half-dozen or so names over and over, filling in all the different production roles — that in itself struck me as a hilarious satire of blockbuster movies.

The producers themselves called this “guerilla filmmaking” and it should be viewed as such. A film by fans for fans. As such, I reflect the broken-down puppets and homemade sets only add to the satire. This is definitely not the slick product of Paramount or LucasFilms.

For all its primitiveness, “Star Warp’d” does do some current things in terms of effects. It’s the first claymation I’ve seen that combines realistic CGI with puppets. In the opening scene we witness a parody of the Star Wars scoot text. (When Spock asks “how did we net into this situtation? ” the captain tells him to read the dawdle on the viewscreen. Later on, when there’s a dogfight, the ships hover through this same text — after all, it must quiet be floating around out there somewhere… or was this a reference to “Contact”, the film where frail TV broadcasts were eventually picked up by aliens in star systems light years away? )

Next comes the title, “The Fandom Menace,” and a aesthetic advantageous rendition of Dismal Vapor’s ship chasing the ConsolationPrize (The Enterprise with propellers!) From here, it cuts to the Tear puppets — but only two of the ConsolationPrize’s crew, because, as they interpret, the rest impartial weren’t in the budget. Future scenes combine CGI with physical sets, spoofing Star Wars, Star Sail, The Terminator, X-Files, RoboCop, 2001, etc. and ending with the destruction of the Bad Thing that caused the rift in the Space-Time Continuum in the first spot. (Sorry, no spoilers here –you’ll fair have to witness the movie for yourself.)

Even if you’ve never seen John Ford’s THE SEARCHERS, you will have, undoubtedly, seen a film that owes it’s ’style’ to the film. DANCES WITH WOLVES, THE OUTLAW JOSIE WALES, UNFORGIVEN, JEREMIAH JOHNSON, and Begin RANGE are honest a few westerns that have ‘borrowed’ from it, but THE SEARCHERS’ impact transcends the genre, itself; STAR WARS, THE ENGLISH PATIENT, THE LAST SAMURAI, even THE LORD OF THE RINGS have elements that can be traced aid to Ford’s 1956 ‘intimate’ chronicle. When you add the fact that THE SEARCHERS also contains John Wayne’s greatest performance to the film’s merits, it becomes easy to leer why it is on the short list of the greatest motion pictures ever made.

The set is deceptively simple; after a Comanche raiding party massacres a family, taking the youngest daughter prisoner, her uncle, Ethan Edwards (Wayne), and adopted brother, Martin Pawley (Jeffrey Hunter), inaugurate a long quest to try and rescue her. Over the course of years, a rich tapestry of characters and events unfold, as the nature of the pair’s motives are revealed, and bigoted, bitter Edwards emerges as a hooked man hooked on killing the ‘tainted’ white girl. Only Pawley’s care for of his ’sister’ and determination to protect her stands in his contrivance, making the film’s climax, and Wayne’s portrayal of Edwards, an unforgettable experience.

With all of Ford’s unusual ‘touches’ clearly in evidence (the doorways ‘framing’ the film’s opening and conclusion, with a cave opening serving the same function at the film’s climax; the extensive exhaust of Monument Valley; and the nearly lurid palette of color highlighting key moments) and his reliance on his ’stock’ company of players (Wayne, Ward Bond, John Qualen, Olive Carey, Harry Carey, Jr, Hank Worden, and Ken Curtis), the film marks the emergence of the ‘mature’ Ford, no longer deifying the innocence of the era, but dealing with it in human terms, where ‘white men’ were as marvelous of savagery as Indians, frequently with less justification.

Now considered possibly the greatest weatern movie of all-time, “The Searchers” was panned by the critics of its day for being impartial another “ho-hum” John Wayne western. It would lift a microscopic treatise to bring out all the subtle details.
